Regular investing is the best way to secure your financial stability. Many people think, though, that they need a large pile of money available. So they never start investing at all. Regularly investing small amounts is still better than investing nothing.
Regular Investing
The days when people put their money into a savings book or a piggy bank are long gone. Nowadays we think more about how to grow our money. We understand that money is not just a tool for paying for goods. Its power is much stronger than that. Money can create more money.
Regular investing goes hand in hand with a certain level of financial literacy. That means we do not live from paycheck to paycheck, but manage our money properly. Regular investing then becomes a natural part of our lives. Nowadays there is a whole range of options for where to put our money. This also applies to small investors, because the minimum amounts for some investments tend to be very low.
Key Facts About Regular Investing
When investing, we follow a few rules:
- your individual situation – work out how much money you can invest and choose a suitable opportunity based on that,
- diversify your money – spread it across several areas,
- invest for the long term – giving yourself more time to build wealth and earn returns,
- get advice – as a beginner, get advice from someone with investing experience.
The ideal time to start regular investing is right now. We learn to earn money with money and we will have funds available for unexpected events and expenses. On top of that, we gain complete control over our finances.
Collectibles
Through Portu Gallery we can invest in unique collectibles and historical assets. You can invest from as little as 1 CZK (about 0.046 USD). Based on the amount you put in, you buy a share in unique items. The investment horizon is different for each item. It is usually 3 – 8 years. The item’s value is updated every year based on an expert appraisal. We also get updates twice a year about news related to our investment.

Shares from One Dollar
Among other things, the Revolut app also offers the purchase of shares in American companies. In the mobile app we can track their value and sell them. We do not have to buy whole shares, which in the case of companies like Amazon can mean hundreds of dollars, but only a fraction of one. It depends on our financial means. It is always better to pick companies that pay dividends. Any dividends are credited to our Revolut account in the mobile app. Besides shares, the app also offers the option to buy cryptocurrencies and commodities.
Mutual Funds from 300 CZK (about 14 USD)
Investing in mutual funds is a simple way to invest, especially for beginners. We send a regular monthly amount to the fund manager, who allocates the money to the mutual fund we have chosen. After that, we do not need to worry about anything else. For repeated monthly investments, we can send very low amounts, starting from as little as 300 CZK (about 14 USD) a month. If we want to invest as a lump sum, we need to have several tens of thousands of crowns ready (several thousand USD). The downside of this investment is fees. The entry fee can reach 3% and the ongoing annual fee 2%. It always depends on the specific provider and type of fund, though. So we always check in advance.
Start-ups
A start-up is a business described as a newly founded or early-stage company. It can also be a business idea that is still only at the concept stage but has great potential. If we decide to invest in start-ups, we will be investing across different sectors and industries. We can agree on the investment directly with the founders. It is better, though, to use a platform that offers an overview of various start-ups. We set the terms of the investment and how profits will be paid out. Before we go into this kind of investment, we study the company’s vision carefully and check the start-up’s previous results, if any are available.
Savings Account
A savings account is one of the most common and simplest ways to grow your money. Running a savings account is usually free, with no fees, and the money is available immediately once we transfer it to a current account. We can open one online, without having to visit a branch. Inflation was 3.8% in 2021, and this year it is expected to reach 8.5%. Almost all of us have felt the rise in the price of food, services, energy and mortgage interest rates. Rising inflation has at least one small advantage for those who have some savings. As inflation rises, the interest rate on savings accounts rises too.
P2P and P2B Loans
Here we are talking about so-called investments in loans. In the Czech Republic, platforms such as Zonky or Bankaret use the same model. This investment model works on the strategy where non-bank companies broker loans between people. As investors, we provide money to a verified platform (for example Bondster), which then lends these funds to the client as a loan. The money is then gradually returned to us, together with the agreed interest. We can invest very small amounts, from 100 CZK (about 4.6 USD). We can earn a return of 4% to 15% a year.
Cryptocurrencies
In recent years, cryptocurrencies have been mentioned very often in connection with investing. Opinions on cryptocurrencies vary, but many people have chosen to invest in this financial instrument regularly. We are talking about a digital (virtual) currency that uses a network of individual users’ computers for its creation and payment transactions. It is not a currency in the true sense of the word. It exists only as an entry in computer memory. Nowadays, cryptocurrency trading volumes are reaching record highs. We can choose from a large number of digital coins to invest in. After buying cryptocurrency, we store this virtual currency in a crypto wallet, an app on our phone where units of digital currency are kept.
Shares
Many of us believe that we need a lot of money to invest in shares. The truth is that the more money we invest in shares, the higher the return, but also the risk. If we have no experience with this type of investment, investing small amounts is a good way to start. It helps us get a feel for how the stock market works, and we learn which types of investments suit us. We open an investment account with a broker, transfer the money, and we can start trading.
